Berghaus are synonymous with outdoor gear and have been since they started up in the sixties. Since then, they have been market leaders in mid-range outdoor kit for walkers and climbers in the UK.

Berghaus' main areas of expertise are as follows:
  • Berghaus Waterproof jackets - Berghaus provide everything from general purpose outdoor jackets (such as the RG1 and the Ladies Calisto) and traditional walking jackets (like the Cornice and the Ladies Glissade) all the way up to specialist mountaineering jackets such as the classic Mera Peak. Many Berghaus waterproof jackets use Berghaus' InterActive system allowing you to zip in a compatible Berghaus Fleece to provide more insulation in cold weather.
  • Berghaus Fleeces and Soft Shells - Everywhere you go in the UK, you will see people wearing Berghaus fleeces. In fact, they have gained such popularity, they are more often than not worn by people who have never been near a mountain in their life! This isn't necessarily a bad thing - it just shows a) how snug they are and b) how good value they offer. Until recently, Berghaus fleeces have typically been slightly less technical than other brands - this is particularly true of their more traditional fleeces (such as the Hobart, Spectrum, Polarplus and Actitivty), however no-one can deny they are very reasonably priced. Berghaus have also brought our a range of technical windstopper Soft Shells (such as the Choktoi Pro and Twister Windproof Soft Shell) in order to compete with the likes of Mountain Equipment and The North Face who both lead the market in this area.
  • Berghaus Walking Boots - Berghaus also produce a popular range of 2-3 season walking boots utilising both leather and fabric outers. Their flagship walking boot is the Explorer which comes in a number of different models including standard, XCR goretex and Leather.
  • Berghaus Gaiters - Berghaus' range of gaiters has proved popular with walkers for years. In particular, their famous military-inspired Yeti Gaiters (the Yeti Extreme and Yeti Wilderness) are among the most viewed products on this site. Berghaus Yeti gaiters fit walking boots so tightly, they almost provide complete waterproof protection. Berghaus also manufacture more traditional gaiters including the GTX and Snowline Gaiter.
  • Berghaus Down Jackets - Berghaus aren't renowned for down jackets but in recent years they have expanded their range considerably. Probably the most popular Berghaus down jacket is the Blast (also available as a Gilet). In terms of Berghaus Insulated jackets, the classic is the Infinity Lite but the new insulated versions of the RG1 and Ladies Calisto are promising.
  • Berghaus Walking Trousers - Berghaus provide a good range of walking pants including the great value Navigator trousers and the high end Statis.
  • Berghaus Waterproof Trousers - Berghaus provide waterproof trousers for every price range. At the cheaper end, the Deluge pants offer good value. Moving up the price range, the lightweight Paclite pants have been Berghaus' most popular general purpose waterproof pant in recent years.
  • Berghaus Base Layers - In recent years, Berghaus have been gaining on market leaders Helly Hansen due to the popularity of their Tech T base layer range (in addition to the older X-Static range).
  • Berghaus Day Rucksacks - Berghaus really excel when it comes to sub 35 litre rucksacks. Their trademark day pack is the Freeflow which features an airflow system to keep your back dry (available in many different sizes as well as women specific versions). If your requirements are less technical, the TwentyFourSeven range is perfect for lower altitude walks and general day-to-day use. Berghaus day packs are also popular with the military - the Munro has been around for years.
  • Berghaus Weekend Rucksacks - Berghaus also produce mid-sized rucksack to suit every need - from the extremely technical (and expensive) Sentinel 45 to the larger Freeflow rucksacks and the ever popular climber's pack - the slimline Arete 45.
  • Berghaus Expedition Rucksacks - Berghaus specialise in large rucksacks (65 litres plus) for both walking and travelling. The C7 range is popular and is manufactured in different sizes from 65 litres to 90 litres plus. There is also a C7 Pro for those demanding extra performance. In terms of travel rucksacks, the Jalan makes a fine choice for your summer backpacking trip.
