 Five climbers from 2 separate parties all survived a 900ft avalanche on Ben Nevis yesterday. One group was a couple of metres from the top of number two gully when the cornice gave way. The resulting avalanche swept the two climbers down the mountain, eventually taking a second party as well. All climbers were battered and bruised but fortunately all they lost was equipment.
