Teva Terra Fi

   Teva Terra Fi Reviews

General comments: These things are never off my feet around the house and during summer time. They are excellent and can't be more highly rated. I have used these in a number of countries and situations and they are great. They get mostly used in summertime when I'm out cragging so I can pull my climbing shoes off and simply velcro up the Teva's, saves on putting a pair of approach shoes. The soles are extremely rugged and I have used them in Austria walking the Tirol. A nice feature is the slightly curled toe section which is just enough to protect your toes from getting bashed. The straps are snug and don't itch your feet in any way.

Pros: The curled toe section to protect your toes and the rugged sole offers loads of grip. Even managed a few boulder problems in them which says a lot for their grippiness. Bombproof design. Quick drying.

Cons: Without doubt the smell! Once you've been walking around in these for even the shortest amount of time you take them off and nearly faint from the stench. I don't really have bad foot odour as a rule but a stint in these and you're really suffering. Mine are that bad that they have to be left outside in summer. Another bad point is the price. ?65 is a lot of money for a pair of sandals.

General comments: An absolute must for all outdoor enthusiasts! These sandals seem tohold that middle ground between providing good support, performance on wet ground and comfort whilst also being able to be as minimal as possible - after all that's the point of sandals! The Terra Fi is completely adjustable via the velcro straps across the toe, over the top of the foot as well as around the back of your ankle. A bit to note though, the velcro runs through a plastic 'patch' which sits just under the ankle on the outside of your foot and if you don't have the adjustment right tghen this piece of plastic can dig into the ankle, which although bearable for short periods can become very painful after prolonged use. The sole is made from sticky 'spider' rubber and works well, in combination with the tread pattern, on every type of terrain. As others undoubtably do, when the weather is right I live out of my teva's and the extra cash spent on getting the Terra Fi is money very well spent (I'm onto my second pair!). I wear mine everywhere from walking around the crags in summer, overseas expeditions and even paddling on the welsh rivers. If you need sandles, then don't even think about any others - buy these babies!

Pros: Fully adjustable, good sole usable on most terrain

Cons: Beware of the plastic digging into your ankle if incorrectly adjusted

General comments: These sandals are excellent quality. Provided you buy them in the right size (not too small, you'll hurt your toes) they are suitable for all kinds of outdoor pursuits including walking in rocky terrain. I personally used them for walking in Corse and Spain in summer conditions and they never dissapointed me. Although adjustments are easily made and the straps are well padded, they won't prevent you slipping forward slightly when descending steep terrain, after all, it is a sandal! Therefore it's important not to buy them too small. The comfort is good, the padding on the straps is not overdone but enough too make them feel comfortable. I believe I had 1 or 2 blisters in them when I started wearing them but neverafter. The footbed feels very comfy.

Pros: The quality off the materials used is very good. These things are rock solid. The soles wear very, very slowly, even after 2 summers use the wear is hardly noticable. The rest of the sandal is as good as new.

Cons: Because of the sturdy soles, these sandals are not lightweight. Also when wet the velcro doesn't hold that well, i suggest you don't go swinning with them! Last but not least, they dry very, very, slowly when wet, even in hot weather in the sun (which I suspect isn't ideal for the sandal).

General comments: A good practical sandal which will give you years of comfortable service

Pros: These sandals are fast approaching their fourth summer. They have proved themselves in the mountains of northern Spain, in the rivers of Brazil and swanning about on the beaches of Greece. They have worn well with the heel and toe area now showing signs of the mileage that they have put in. the webbing straps on the uppers provide a very secure and comfortable fit and your feet are protected from the plastic D-rings by very comfy foam inserts. The footbed is contoured to provide a comfortable fit and the design allows air to circulate to reduce smelling also, the footbed has been treated with an antibacterial coating to assist in this. There is a shock pad in the heel unit to take some of the jarring out of jumps and the like and this is topped off with a very good sole unit which provides good grip on most surfaces

Cons: The foot bed has started to smell quite bad even with the air channels and the antibacterial coating. I did experience some blistering on my heel and small toe when I first got them. When you get this wet they do take a very long time to dry

General comments: I never realised that a pair of sandles would be so comfortable and I would have never have dreamt that I would wear let alone actually own a pair! When I have been out for the full day in the middle of summer and finally got to my destination one of the first things I do is take my boots off before setting up camp. I would usually just walk round the site with nothing on my feet until I got a really bad cut after standing on somebody’s left over rubbish!! I was told to buy a pair of sandles but I just laughed and thought no way on earth would I wear them. How wrong could I have been they hardly ever come off my feet during summer, I liked the look of these and were recommended to me by many different people. At first I was a bit put off with the price tag for a pair of sandles but I have found them to be amazingly comfy and the straps have not once rubbed me (I thought this would be a big problem). The sole is good giving plenty of grip and I have been over very rough terrain and through a few streams.

Pros: So comfortable, they feel solid underfoot, completely adjustable

Cons: Mine give off a very bad odour! Think they could be a touch on the steep side regards price

General comments: 2007 is my 3rd year of having these excellent sandals. they really are a do everything shoe. you don't mind taking a dip down the river with the kids and you can catch the ice cream man up the road without them falling off. they pack down under your sac bungee cord for an evening shoe to relax in and can still be used in wetter weather with a pair of sealskins or something. mega comfy and totally secure bindings. i thought a lot about these 'sport' sandals but really they're worth the money. much better than my previous merrels for comfort and act like a trainer, although beware any shingle getting under your feet while running about on gravel or trails.

Pros: excellent grip and comfort. a do everything sandal with anti bac properties (although they'll still need a good wash to get ingrained dirt out). they last ages and really perform extremely well.

Cons: not the cheapest but certainly worth the cash I'd say.

General comments: very. very comfortable. t bought mine in 2004 because i have foot promblems and found i could walk much farther in them than i had been able to for years. they are now in their sixth year and are soon off to morroco having allready been to the sahara, round the west coast of ireland, greek islands, numerous english moors, woods. beaches, and many. many city streets. i know of no other footwear so multi-purpose, rocks, mud, streams, sharp beaches in and out of the water. i have worn them constantly, aprill to october in all conditions and terrains.

Pros: very rugged, comfortable and practical. do get the right size and ajust them properly. they need to be tighter i going in and out of water or you will blister. they are well worth the money and just last and last.

Cons: THE SMELL i have never had smelly feet, even after days in a hiking boot, but the reek that comes from tevas beggers belief. i think its the anti-bacterial componant. i now put mine through the washing machine regularly and in between time apply roll-on deoderant to the sole fairly often to keep it under control.

General comments: I'm on my second pair ... in only two weeks! And they're going back to the shop, as well! After a few days, the Shoc Pad in the heel area has risen out of the bed of the sandal by several millimetres and it feels like I've got a little rectangle of marine ply glued under both heels. Is this meant to happen or am I just lucky?

Anthony Chadwick responded : Mine too bought some from Cotswolds Harrogate 3weeks ago. Went camping and found my heel pads a bit sore. The sole around shock pad has collapsed to make shoc pad stick up by few mm proud of the insole. Is this what they all do shall I return them ? (2010-06-23)

Russell Grimshaw responded : So, I'm not alone with the prominent shoc pad issue. I've had TEVAs for over ten years and have absolutely loved them. At the end of last summer I bought my third pair. I've found them so uncomfortable that I've resurrected the previous pair that had been consigned to gardening duties. The shocpad sits higher than the surrounding insole. After an hour or so they are virtually unwearable. It's a pity because I have loved my previous sandals and wouldn't have even considered another brand. (2011-04-24)
