General comments: Clearly Silva are the best when it come to compasses. And of their designs, this is probably the most versatile. The usual advantages of mirror sighting and deviation adjustment are present, with the addition of the clinometer. This is not only useful for examining the dip of sedimentary strata (not much use in navigation!), but also for showing the angle of the slope upon which you are standing, which with some experience and basic mental arithmetic enables translation to the contour widths on the map. Not always a lot of use on its own, but any additional information during difficult navigation is always welcome....
Pros: All the toys, made by Silva
