Vango Hurricane 200 Tent Reviews

General comments: What a great tent for the price, I used to have a Mountain Hardwear Trango but it had its day and needed replacing. Short of cash, I bought the Vango Hurricane 200 and in my opinion it's just as good. It feels just as stable and has the same amount of room. The Hurricane 200 stood up well in the alps at altitude and there's even enough room to cook inside when the weather is miserable.
Pros: Fantastic price.

General comments: I bought this tent two years ago as a base camp tent and it has performed superbly in the worst of weathers the UK can throw at you.
I have been sat in it for 2 days in the Cairngorms waiting for the snow to stop, almost two feet fell I might add, I had to dig the tent out the next morning in 60mph winds, Dartmoor dropped what felt like an ocean full of rain and hail, Snowdonia again high winds and rain, Brecon Beacons snow hail and wind for three days.
This tent stood up to it all with absolutely no problem at all while others around were failing people miserably including North Face and Marmott and these are supposed to be the pinnacle of mountain shelters, the Vango 200 will in my opinion give any 4+season tent of any cost a run for its money.
Pros: All
Cons: None

General comments: This is an excellent tent, which as per one of the other reviews was bought to replace a mountain hardwear trango 2 which i sold on as i found it was too fiddly to put up if in a hurry. The first time i used this tent it was in in the worst rain you can think of and it did leak from the stitching around the front door which dripped onto the inner door and let water into the main body of the tent and created a small puddle in the corner, although minimal it did leak. This tent has a lifetime guarantee from vango and instead of taking it away and repairing it when it was returned to the shop. they contacted vango who replaced the tent with a brand new tent within a week, which has been used in the same conditions and has not gave any problems. if you look at the flysheet and groundsheet specs they are up there with the best. I would trust this tent in any conditions and would be very confident it wouldnt blow away if you were away walking etc and werent in it.
Pros: Great spec for price, easy to put up plenty storage inside and in both porches, roomy for a two man. feels solid, plenty of guy lines, alloy pegs and poles.
Excellent customer service fro vango.
Cons: Not much, although i was dubious about stitching round the doors letting in water again i put it up in the garden and put a hose over it as i have read this is a weak point in other reviews. and it was fine. so no real worries. well worth the money

General comments: Just bought a hurricane 200!
So far it looks like a real good tent. I've pitched it in the back garden and given it a good soaking to check for leaks, and found absoloutly nothing!
I bought this tent to use in winter up in the Cairngorms and on Ben Nevis, at £170 it was as much as I could afford as a student, and after doing a lot of research I doubt you'd get a better 4 season mountain tent for that money. Infact, I think you'd struggle to get any half decent mountain tent for that much!
The guy I go climbing with has a Terra Nova Quasar, and has said it looks like just as good a tent in terms of layout and space etc, with the porch at end, big enough to store your packs and boots in 1 while cooking in the other.
Plenty of storage inside at the sides, and a really handy storage hammock in the roof, which is an extra with many other tent makes. It also comes with good guy lines and really good light pegs, 8 x standard design but super light, 6 x Y section, also super light for the guys. Also somes with repair kit.
Ohh and did I mention that the venting system looks really good too!
As I said, i'll be up in the Cairngorms and Ben Nevis this winter to test it to the limits, and I'll let you know how I get on. I have no doubt it'll do better than the 3 season one I used last year!
Pros: Great tent for your buck! Practical, tested design features from Vango.
Light, strong, spacious and highly visible (if in blue!)
I've not found any annoying design faults.
I have no regrets buying this tent what so ever!
Cons: Very few! Ground sheet looks a wee bit delicate, might need a protector if on ruff ground.
