General comments: I bought these North Face Strider waterproof trousers because a) the material looked hard wearing compared to similarly priced products b) £70 seemed like a good price and c) generally speaking, you can't go wrong with North Face. 2 years later, they are still in a usable condition with only a few minor tears at the very bottom of one leg (crampon inflicted). I have used these trousers almost every weekend and they have never let me down. The main strength is their versatility. In summer they are light enough to live in your rucksack just incase you are subjected to showers. In autumn/spring, I wear the waterproofs with no baselayer underneath (they are lined) which provides windproofing, waterproofing and breathability. In winter, you can add a baselayer underneath to ensure warmth. Another essential feature are the full length zips. The last thing you want to do when it starts chucking it down is to start taking off your boots to get your waterproofs on. Overall, these waterproof trousers have given me great value for money. Looking at the other products available, you would probably have to pay double what the striders cost to get a better pair.

Pros: Waterproofing. Windproofing. Breathability. Versatility. Full Zips. Price.

Cons: No pockets - although I suppose this helps the trousers to be completely waterproof.

General comments: These trsouers are brilliant, one of the main things i would say about them is the material is so hard wearing. They will last you years without ripping like cheaper trousers. When i bought them i thought they were quite a reasonable price (compared to otheres that can go for over 100 quid). They have an inner lining which keeps you warm in the winter but it can be taken out so in the summer you are still protected from the occassional shower. Overall i would say these are a great bargain and you should feel confident that you are buying a quality product at a decent price.

Pros: Hardwearing, water tight, fleece lining.

Cons: could do with a better way of tighterning the waist.
