From TGO:
The Berghaus GTX gaiter ought to be a bog-standard gaiter suitable for all, but a couple of elements put me off. First, without a zip to support it, the 2.5-inch velcro-style front fastening tends to gape slightly when your leg and foot flex, and snow clumps on the hook and loop. This is true of most Velcro-only front fastening gaiters. Second, the underfoot strap is adjusted from inside the gaiter. It keeps each strap from flapping and catching on crampons but it means you have to fully open the gaiter to make adjustments. Adjustment is also by Velco-style strip, and those strips are already starting to clog with mud. The Berghaus GTX Gaiter is split into a waterproof/breathable XCR Stretch calf/shin section and an area of tougher fabric around the boot for abrasion protection. That XCR extends down behind the ankle where abrasion protection is unnecessary thus improving breathability; I've experienced no condensation problems. | Site | Price | Postage | Total |

Berghaus GTX Gaiter Reviews
Reviewed by Phoebe (UK) on 2009-03-19:
General comments: You know how, when you're embarrassed you wish the gound would swallow you up? Well, what if the ground swallowing you up was actually the cause of your embarrassment? Seriously, every time I go out walking, I manage to find the deepest, wettest, muddiest bog and plunge my leg in up to thigh level. Happily I've invested in these Berghaus GTX gaiters. Made from durable, stretchy, breathable, waterproof Goretex XCR, they have been tested in many bogs, and each time have kept my feet nice and dry. I did wonder if the velcro front fastening would be enough to seal them securely on my leg, but I have had no problems as yet and often forget I'm even wearing them. I love the way the undefoot strap is Velcro-adjusted (cutting out the faff) and is inside the gaiter so it doesn't snag on any rocks - the draw closure also makes them easy to adjust.
Pros: These gaiters do exactly what they're supposed to. Also, they have a good underfoot strap - the weakness of many gaiters.
Cons: No complaints.
