Revised for 2005, this technical waterproof glove has been designed by ice climbers for ice climbers. We've been impressed by the sticky leather palm, which makes it much easier to maintain a grip on the shafts of your climbing tools. Bio-gel inserts help to limit damage to knuckles on vertical ice. There are currently no prices for this product. It's possible the product has been discontinued.

Outdoor Designs Ultraflex Glove Reviews

General comments: These Ultraflex gloves were great to start with, but quickly stopped being waterproof. Not a problem if your ice climbing on the continent, where everything stays frozen, but unpleasant when you're climbing on a Welsh waterfall keen to return to a liquid state. The grip on the palms wears quite quickly, and I don't find them very warm. On the plus side they leave you dextrous enough to allow gear placement while wearing them.
Pros: Can place gear while wearing them
Cons: Not hard wearing, not very warm

General comments: I have had these gloves for over a year now and have generally been very impressed with them. For steep ice climbing they are ideal as the gel protection in the knuckles really makes adifference; ice axe arrests are also made a whole lot less painfull on your knuckles as well! The red grip on the inside of the hand is very good, remaining tacky in wet, cold and icy conditions, however it doesnt last long when used for anything other than handling ice axes. The gore-tex lining does its job very well although i have experienced sweaty hands on a couple of occasions. The only bad point i can think of is the lining: more on that later!
Pros: excellent dexterity means that one can use krabs and place protection without removing them. Very good knuckle protection
very comfortable and warm
Cons: The lining of the glove- almost itself an inner glove, is only attatched at the wrist, not at the end of the fingers. This may just be a fault with my gloves, but does mean that is you take wet hands out of the gloves and then try and put them back on, it is vertualy impossible. This is really a major flaw and something that i hope the makers will change for 2006

General comments: i've found these to be great gloves when i've used them. the gel coting is somethign you really apreciate on your knuckels when climbing steep ice with straight tools! much better than dachsteins in that respect. useful amount of deterity with the way teh fingertips are sewn, shem teh lining doesn't always stay in teh fingers when you pull your fingers out. not as waterproof as you might hope, bu i guess you have to sacrifice somethigns for the extra agility. bu they are usually dextrous enough to use without pulling hands out to plac egear/do ropwark etc.
not the best glove on teh market but if you get a good deal then they are definitely worth it. your knuckles will certainly thank you for it.
Pros: gel coated knuckles, loops to tie to wrists
Cons: loose linign
not so very waterproof
