Outdoor designs have made a few changes to last year's WinterFlex in an attempt to make it lighter and warmer. The main material used is Goretex XCR but the palm and finger areas are reinforced with leather to try and mimimise wear. | Site | Price | Postage | Total |

General comments: Bought these gloves as they were on special offer from Cotswold, very good value for the £30 I bought them for.
Reasonably thin and I found them cold, without a liner, so advisable to buy reasonably large so you can put a thin fleece inner underneath too. There is a thin linining in the glove, but the glove is still quite thin and not particularly warm.
The fabric is XCR goretex and kept my hands nice and dry when I used them for clearing away snow etc. Didn't get wet hands at all and they seemed reasonably breathable, even when working hard ice climbing.
Closure on these Winter Flex gloves is courtesy of a neoprene strap with some velcro on it. Simple and does the job, keeps water out reasonably well.
The palm is a grippy rubber bobbles, but I've found these not to be particularly durable, the bobbles started to disappear quite quickly and making me quite sceptical about how durable these glove will be. No elastic idiot loops too, could do with some, but not essential. I just strung them up with some cheap elastic.
Overall, reasonable glove, fairly dexterous but have a few worries about durability after the palm bobbles came off quickly. Seem reasonable value at £30, but wouldnt pay £55 for them
Pros: Dexterous. Keep hands dry.
Gore Tex XCR
Cons: Bobbles came off quickly. No idiot loops.

General comments: I own these gloves and a pair of Black Diamond Dry Tool. I do like these Winter Flex
and I have got a lot of wear out of them but I must admit that I do tend to wear the BD gloves a lot more. Because these Outdoor Design gloves offer good water repellency due to the Goretex XCR lining they are especially good on snow routes where you need to clear snow away from belays, bucket seats etc. For a lined glove they are reasonably responsive to the wearer also. I have found the gloves to provide good levels of breathability although finding a truly breathable pair in my opinion is non existent. The Winter Flex do sometimes provide a problem in putting them on if your hands are wet or sweaty, the inner lining tends to ruck up a bit on the inside of the glove. Build wise I would say that they are reasonable. As a previous reviewer stated, the plastic logo grips on the palm are not clever at all. They started to peel on the first wear. The velcro wrist fastener is very good though and is much better recommended than the the toggle system used by a lot of manufacturers. A nice feature too is the leather section stitched between the thumb and forefinger for adding extra grip to tools.
Pros: Lined, warm and provide good water repellency. Considering you get a Goretex XCR liner I think they are pretty well priced especially as they seem to be cropping up quite cheap in places. The velcro wrist fastener is far superior to toggle gloves.
Cons: Inner lining can ruck up on the inside of the glove. Question marks over build quality.
