Terra Nova Quasar ETC Reviews
Reviewed by Ben.D (Aberystwyth) on 2006-02-27:
General comments: I have owned the terra Nova Quasar Etc, in its present form, for about six years. It started off life as a normal Quasar but after I tore the fly during an accident in the garage (torn beyond repair) I opted to buy the additional ETC flysheet as it was not available then as a separate whole tent. Before I go on this fly cost me an additional £180 which seems expensive but the quality of these tents is such that I would pay this no problem. I wanted an additional space / porch more than the standard quasar. I found once I had stored my packs and boots the porch became totally useless. I have used this tent cycling abroad with the wife and it swallows up all our cycling gear no problem. There is an additional weight to the fly but between two people its manageable. Putting the tent up is easy the four colour coded poles deal with the inner and there is an additional fifth pole for the fly. Stability in the tent is fantastic and properly put up I have found hardly any difference between the original quasar fly as this one. The extra room in the fly aids cooking much more than the old fly. I would take some extra groundsheet material to place in the extended fly as this area can get quite messy when you are in and out.
Pros: fantastic quality and loads of room. you get the bombproof quasar with livable extra space
Cons: I havent found ant except the initial cost of the fly but it will last years
