The Gemini is a specialist high altitude shelter for use on high mountains. It performs well on difficult ascents where a simplicity of pitching coupled with a minimum 'footprint' are essential. PLEASE NOTE: Gore-Tex tents perform best at high altitude, they must be well ventilated to avoid condensation. | Site | Price | Postage | Total |

Terra Nova Gemini Reviews
Reviewed by John Swarbrick (New Zealand) on 2008-02-23:
General comments: This is very special purpose tent make no mistake about that.... Designed for High altitude mountaineering and superbly well made. My example is a older Wildcountry made green version. I use it exclusively for Winter mountainerering at which it combination of light weight and ease of pitching excel. To get the Goretex material of the tent to begin to breathe enough to prevent the tent becoming moisture laden you need a temperature differential (warm inside cold outside) to drive the water vapour through... it's cozy for two and has a useful porch ( made from regular nylon on my example) which is adequate for gear storage and careful cooking. I make sure I ventilate the tent as much as possible when cooking inside to let as much water vapour out as possible the inbuilt ventilator in the roof of the tent is a handy and well thought through feature. The construction is superb and I'm still on the original bulldog pole set. In all honesty this tent probably gets 5 winter trips a year maximum and this I feel is a contributing factor in it's long life. Not a tent for valley or regular camping by any means. it excells in snow and cold high conditions.
Pros: Tough, compact so you dont have to carve out a huge platform in the snow to pitch it on. Lightweight. well built
Cons: Supplied with regular pegs not snow pegs which considering it's intended use.... Not for use below the snowline....
