The S6 is loaded with all the features to help you make the most of your alpine experience, whilst letting you assess both performance and risks more accurately. The combination of altimeter and clinometer allows measurement of speed and vertical tracking, whilst the chronograph records both average and maximum speed and slope angle. This data can then be downloaded and analysed using the Suunto activty manager PC software. The compass, altimeter and barometer/barometric trend features are essential aids to navigation and weather assessment, and the clinometer can be used as an extra tool for estimating avalanche risk. | Site | Price | Postage | Total |

General comments: I have had this watch now for arong 18 months and though originally purchased for use just when doing outdoor activities it has now become my everyday watch. As with most of the Suunto range these watches are large and tend to look better and feel more comfortable for people who dont have thin wrists. As you would expect from this type of watch it does all of the basics well, with 3 alarms (useful to wakre me up for work in the morning, stopwatch, date, time etc.. This watch has several more specilised feature such as the ability to monitor altituide or pressure and log it, give you an idea of the changing weather trends, clinometer (angle of a slope), compass, alarms linked to altitude, sudden changes in pressure. The watch has been completely waterproof even when I used it during a diving holiday. Given that it has a mineral crystal glass I was disappointed to scratch it on the first scrambling route | took it on, but I guess this is just par for the course when doing these activities. I used the compass when I forgot my standard compass up on Kinder Scout and although it was not the easiest thing to use it got me from A to B without problems (I does keep switching back to the watch mode after roughly 30 seconds which I guess is a power saving feature). Prehapes the most useful thing about this watch is the altimeter which I regularily use when mountain walking to gauge where I am and how far I have to go. The watch is soildly built and the only things to have failed are the battery (after 1 year) and the rubber ring which holds the tail of the strap in against the rest of the strap. I have yet to use the feature associated with linking it up to a computer but I have seen this feature used on my friends suunto and the informaton is quite impressive when used during walking or skiing.
Pros: Solid build, good range of features.
Cons: Large, expensive.
