Reviewed by Jed Ullrich (Anchorage Alaska) on 2007-03-20:
General comments: In the broad spectrum of climbing that is available in Alaska, the Aztarex performs admirably. From steep alpine ice to -10F waterfall ice, the Aztarex is lightweight swings like a champ and sticks. I've climbed many peaks in the local Chugach Range using these tools as well as numerous WI4-5 falls. The lightweight keeps you from getting pumped, not like my old Black Profits. So far they show very little wear despite the hard use. My only gripe is that the handle may be too narrow for my giant paws. Overall a sexy tool that will impress the ladies and will help you climb well enough to impress them yourself. Super fast and light. 4 stars
Pros: superlight weight, reversable pinky grip, plunges like a champ works really well as a piolet.
Cons: integrated adze and hammer, handle a little narrow for people with big hands
