General comments: I got this tent in 2002 and therefore have the older version, however apart from shaving off a few grams nothing has changed, Why?.... because when it comes to strength and build quality this is the best tent out there in my opinion.
Ive used it on several trips away, most notably this year in south america where gales in the andes left other tents in pieces whilst all i lost was a few misplaced pegs (£80 for the ones that come with the tent!!!). Also usesful was the fact that witha footprint the tent can be used with just the fly sheet, making it a very light tent in warmer conditions. If you go to buy this tent you have ton go for the grey and rather lairy orange colours, so even if you dont use it in extreme weather conditions you can still point to he pictures of everest and say 'ive got that tent'.
Pros: Totally bombproof construction
Built-in window to look outside and make the inside nice and bright
Very easy to put up compared to most 5 season tents, even with mitts.
Cons: Expensive (you pay for what you get)
Heavy... if your looking for just british use

General comments: I've owned this tent for 2 years now, and realistically i can't see the need to change it. MH will repair it if you manage to break it. (chargeable of course but way cheaper than a replacement).
In use its very nice to pitch, with some really neat touches. I especially like the cinch straps for the fly sheet that allow you to postion it over the inner very accurately. This has proved usefull for aiding ventilation over the inner, by lifting one side slightly higher. A minimal amount of pegs and no guys produce a bombproof shelter. And also allow it to be squeezed into some quite small and narrow places without compromising its pitched strength. The pegs will penetrate just about anything without a hint of bending, although they can be difficult to remove without a loop of cord to get a good hold. The bath tub style ground sheet comes quite high up too, so even when the rain is really bouncing your not getting even remotely wet.
Plenty of room, for what seems like a relatively small footprint. Swallows two people a dog and lots of gear with ease. Many cavernous pockets and a very cool gear loft keep everything well organized too. Entry and exit easy with full winter clobber (I'm 6'3").
I really like the skylight, you can sleep under the stars and see them, and watch the weather beat down on you. A nice big window in the front allows you to watch over the weather too.
On the one occasion i found need for guys, i struggled to tie them to the guy out loops (a rather wet scottish winter) I've since attached the guys to their own mini carabinas, this makes getting a guy in much quicker with gloves in nasty conditions.
I'm very pleased with this tent, it has get to fail me, and i suspect it may have to be pushed much harder to even show signs of faultering.
so far its only had to cope with UK winters, and equally bad summers.Next trip, The high Atlas mtns, February. I can't wait.
Pros: Construction.
This thing moves less and makes fewer noises than my house in a howling gale.
Cons: Weight.
Not the lightest mountain shelter, but easily split between two, and reduced by using a footprint.

General comments: What a superb tent! as many describe, it is totally bomb-proof. you can use this tent anywhere and it will most definately live up to expectations as demonstrated by the many people that use it from the extreem conditions of everest to the fair weather of summer camping. I used this tent in the English lakes in winter (2006) for the first time as it was brand new. It rained for a constant 11 hours, some was torrential, but not even a leak from the tent. I then took it up to the tops where the wind gusted to a force 7 at times, but with the internal guying system, the tend stood strong the whole night. There really are so many good things to say about the tent like the tension of the inner and little details like the doors dont drag on the floor like many tents. I did find however that if you do not ventelate the tent, it can get quite hot and condensation builds up, but not a problem if the tent is left ventelated. Overall a super tent.
Pros: I love the space as you could eaisly fit 3 people in no problem. also the weight is superb for an expedition tent, especailly if there are two of you sharing the load.
lastly the waterproofness is a great bonus especailly in sudden downpours.
Cons: I guess the tent coupld be considered expensive, but really you get what you pay for. This is a four season expedition tent so it's no supprise is can be up to £400. Also, if you do not ventelate the tent, it can get very condensation prone, and lastly, the internag guying system can be a bit complex for beginners but is fine once you have put the tent up a few times before you leave home (this is very recomended!)
