General comments: I bought this tent summer 05, and have used it in Scotland both that summer and Easter 06. Due to its immense size, we usually opt for a comfortable camp site and get an electric hookup - ample space inside for a table and 4 chairs, as well as cooking equipment and foodstuffs/fridge in the porch.
We easily put a kingsize air bed in just one half of the sleeping area, and could easily get another in the other half. Separating these two halves is a zip-open single fabric 'door' which reaches almost down the floor and provides ample privacy.
The mud walls are superb - preventing rain running inside the porch area, and once its all dry, you can unzip these at the edge of the groundsheet and sweep out any dry mud or rice that you've spilled when cooking.
All together a well thought out tent with space for 4-6 adults (6 would be a squash) to camp in absolute luxury.
The only real con - the price, but we got ours for £350 at a tent show!
Pros: Loads of room - for sleeping, cooking, relaxing
Mud walls to prevent water seeping into the tent
Cons: Very thin groundsheet - would recommend having a second groundsheet underneath incase you get any sharp stones etc that you haven't removed.
Light colour doesnt stop much light, so go to bed at dusk and up at dawn. No point trying to sleep during the daytime!

General comments: I bought this tent last year and used it once in fine weather then. This week, we went to the Cairngorms with it, camping at low level, in wet conditions. The tent is reasonably easy to put up: 35 mins start to finish. It is roomy and well designed in terms of layout. Ample vestibule room for cooking and eating, with a rear vestibule providing ample storage.
BUT lets go to the bad points, which ruined our trip and left the tent in a bin on Glenmore campsite.
The tent leaked-started with seams all over, then roof fabric failed after 24 hours rain.
The main door zip broke and couldn't be repaiared.
The design is way off from midge proof-inner tent seals OK, but the vesitibules have no effective protection-ground sheet not sewn in, so they can get in there.
The supplied guy ropes absorb water and are impossible to adjust when wet.
The roof ventilator in the outer tent is a lousy design-it comes loos, flaps around and encourages water ingress.
Pros: As I say, great design [apart from the midge prevention, which is lousy]. Loads of space, a big tent for your money. For so large a tent, easily erectected and struck.
Cons: However, the inability of the correctly erected tent to withstand 24 hours rain, leading to soaked sleeping bags, wet clothes and the curtailment of the trip because the tent was rapidly failing in its weather integrity all lead me to say that I wouldn't touch one of these tents if you paid me to. I would add that I've been camping regularly for over 35 years and this is the worst tent I have yet encountered.

General comments: This is our second Ocean View RT, the first was replaced FOC by Jack Wolfskin after our complaints of leaks and poor roof vent design.
We have now used this one four times, after two uses a couple of the windows had started to disintegrate, a most bizzare situation, on third use all but one were showing similar signs of failure. Manufacturer reglazed them free of charge. Last week it was exposed to rain and a breeze for the first time. Leaked like a seive and structuraly failed we ended up string the two ends between two vehicle to prevent collapse. poles distorted and lost shape during not particularly heavy winds. This is the 10th tent I have owned in my 50yrs and I have never seen one perform as badley in light wind. It is a great shame as it looks superbly built with fine attention to detail in many area's. It is now in the bin which works out at £125 per use!
Pros: Looks classy, great attention to detail, love those alluminium poles. Fantastic customer care.
Cons: Just doesn't work at the most fundamental level... as a shelter from weather.
