General comments: This is the mothership of tents! We bought one a year ago for family camping. With four kids we needed a tent that would give us sufficient space to tollerate each other for a week in Wales. This tent provides four generous sleeping rooms (two of which accept a double air matress) and there's space in the centre for lots of other people to crash. Wild Country themeselves claim it will sleep 14 in total - I'd say that was quite conservative.
When it arrives, the first thing you'll notice is the weight - 39Kg (over 6 stone). You must have plenty of space in your car to carry this beast (we take a seat out of the people-carrier to accommodate it).
The tent arrives in excellent quality storage bags with proper compartments for everything. Although it is possible for a single person to erect this tent it's really a job for two or more (especially if you have young kids running amok!). The steel frame goes up first followed by the fly. High quality, colour-coded fibreglass rods give the tent it's full form. Once it's all pegged down the result is very stable. The tent quality is excellent - every detail has been thought out, from dimesions to storage. The front awning extends (ours came with a free extension kit in fact) to provide a cooking are - this is potentially very important if you're going to spend considerable time in front of a stove.
Pros: Quality - construction, fabrics, stitching
Precision (everything aligns properly)
Space - excellent design, good head height
Storage - plenty of pockets and hanging loops
Cons: Weight - 39kg
Time - can't be helped, a 10 berth tent inevitably takes a long time (1 hour or so) to erect and pack. You'll also need plenty of space to dry it out if you have to pack in the rain
