General comments: I love these trousers! I have been looking high and low for a pair of trekking trousers that are technical enough to cope with summer in the alps, and that didn't make you look 20 years old than on actually is.... It seems that almost every pair of pant on the market is extremely tapered on the leg hence enhancing the backside region......
So after much cursing and hair pulling, I was kindly pointed in the direction of Rohan - and thank goodness I was :)
They have just released a new range to deal with extreme heat conditions, and they have a couple of bootleg options hoorah!
My expedition cargos arrived on the day of gale force winds so I just had to take this delightful piece of kit out for a test drive, and wow, they drive fast.
The wind lightly dusted through the fabric which was surprising considering the sheer impact of the wind that day - great result!
They are a fantastic design - button waist band but have adjustable velcro straps on the side should you drop down in weight. The pockets are huge and streamlined to the garment so you don't feel like too much of a tourist, one pcoket has a 'pocket within a pocket' to hide valuables I would assume. They have a nifty little d ring in the pocket - perhaps for attaching keys or something of value.
It has a coating that keeps the insects at bay, and also the UV rays which is great.
The bootleg style is fantastic - easy to get on over boots and makes one look ones age :)
The colours are great, either stone or loden green, I chose loden green, and very happy with it.
My only quibble would be that the waist is quite high and for some reason makes you look well endowed at the front !!! But a good length base layer would detract the eye from the high waist. And at times you can feel the seams but it's not bad enough to be uncomfortable.
All in all a good purchase. They look great and perform well, very happy.
Thanks Rohan for solving the bootleg problem :)
Pros: They are bootleg - hoorah! Well thought out design, large discreet pockets, midge resistant, UV resistant.
Cons: High waist makes one look well endowed at the front. Sometimes seams can be felt but not enough to make it a problem.
