Vango Nitestar 250 Sleeping Bag Reviews
Reviewed by Stuart Williams (Hawick, Scotland) on 2009-10-21:
General comments: I bought this as i needed a warm winter sleeping bag for some out of car camping and it is ideal. It is basically a duvet with a nylon outer coating. I am a very warm person and can often use the extreme guidance as my comfort zone regarding the temperature. Recently I was camping at Glencoe in the Scottish Highlands in the middle of October and the temperature went down to 4c but I was as warm as toast in this. I have lent it to a friend of mine who had started to get cold at 8c but comfort temperature is 4c with the extreme being -19c.
It is very comfortable inside, you cannot feel any seams or the zip, the hood fits nicely over you head without blocking your face and generally has a lot of room inside (I’m 6'0 and 12 stone). It has a nice soft feel inside and a general feeling of quality. I do a lot of backpacking and camping all over the country in winter and summer and this bag is not designed for that, it is heavy and bulky, and I wouldn’t like to have to carry it around with me, it’s more for if you have the car.
Pros: Very good for the price, would highly recommend!
Warm, spacious without being to big.
Cons: Hard to pack away.
Zip sometimes tends to snag.

General comments: The award winning nitestar has been nothing short of fantastic, it is not an exaggeration to say it has changed my life for the better. It has seen me through many a cold night on various camping holidays, from the Pyrenees mountains to the Rockies. In fact I sleep in it most nights in my garden! It has certainly kept me toasty, toastier than any other sleeping bag I have ever owned. I am the envy of all my friends. Toasty, soft and long lasting the nitestar 250 is a smash hit for the hirdy hiker, may it bring you as much and more joy!
Pros: Long tube to for my long legs!
Cons: The zip did brake, but it doubles up as a brill duvet.

mountain mcgill responded : I too have been lucky enough to use this majestic sleeping machine, and that whether your sleeping on the floor, in a bed or on a grassy hill side, this sleeping wonder will change the way you sleep at night.
All you ever need to wear is your boxers in the nitestar due to its extremely effective walls, however for those freaks that would still be hot in this instance, the broken zip makes for some brilliant air conditioning!
