The 'stealth' rubber used on the 5:10 Spire is oft quoted as being the best available. In addition, Five Ten have paid close attention to the heel section when designing this shoe - the seams have been shifted to the side (away from the achilles pressure point) in order to stop blistering. The toe is assymetric which helps provide a snug fit. | Site | Price | Postage | Total |

General comments: I got these Five Ten Spires last year. Really comfy shoes for a beginner, Once there on I find them comfortable enough to wear all day and rarely take them off when climbing indoors.
The five-ten stealth rubber is much stickier in my opinion than my old Scarpa or La Sportiva shoes and so inspires more confidence. They're not a very technical shoe, but I do find they push your toes to the front of the shoe, certainly not a bad thing, but something I noticed when I put them on and stand on an edge. They're reasonably stiff too, so I wouldn't say they're the best shoes for smearing but all in all,a really good pair of shoes. Sizing is about a size smaller than shoe-size for me anyway and they don't stretch that much, except the bloody heel can be a bit sloppy. Good shoes for normal-wide feet or for a beginner looking for a good first shoe.
Pros: 5-10 stealth rubber. Really comfy. Not too pointed so good if you have assymetric feet. Nice and stiff and supportive
Cons: Heel is sloppy. Not very technical and not perfect for smearing.

General comments: Bought these shoes for wearing when taking people up long easy routes. I found them very comfy and started wearing them whilst cragging taking a tighter shoe for the hard routes. Now I find I do most of my climbing in them and can lead routes of up to E1 on grit or volcanics, no problem. The last is narrow espeacily around the heel and they offer litttle protection on stoney descents and not very stiff for edging. Super sticky stealth rubber and good quality 5:10 construction with a non-agressive heel.
Pros: Comfy non aggressive heel fitting for all day wear. Stealth rubber.
Cons: Thin last and lack of stiffness on edges.
