The Rab Bergen is a superb jacket that manages to tick most of the boxes for the discerning hill-walker. The Bergen has won several awards in Trail reviews. It is made from eVent fabric which offers extremely high levels of waterproofness and breathability. Like all the best jacket you get outstanding pocketing so you can store maps easily even when wearing a rucksack. The hood is also excellent and it can be rolled to the collar and secured too. Freedom of movement in the sleeves is good and the fabric used for the Rab Bergen feels very durable compared to similarly specified jackets.

General comments: Got one of these over the summer so haven't really had a chance to comment on its foul weather capabilities but i'll give you an idea what you get for your money. The jacket has a roomy cut that allows full movement with or without a pack and leaves a decent bit of space for layering underneath. The arms are plenty long enough when you're bending and stretching and wont ride up leaving you with that annoying gap between gloves and sleeves. Also, on wearing a pack, the pockets are still accessible. The hood is perfectly adjustable and allows you good vision as you turn your head and can be rolled away and tabbed down simply and securely. I personnally think Event fabric is much better than goretex etc and is my current favourite. This is based on having a few event products and i really rate its breathability, a great boon if you're prone to sweating too much.
Pros: Lightweight, colours(muted), weight, breathability.
Cons: Errrr, cant think of any
