General comments: Fantatsically waterproof jacket. I finally bit the bullet and bought goretex after refusing to spend so much on a jacket for ages. It was the best thing I did for walking in the rain!
The Mountain Equipment Lhotse has the best hood of any jacket I tried, and the pockets are situated great. It's also a good fit for scrambling as the sleeves don't move down your arm when you reach up.
Only one gripe. When it really hammers it down, for some reason I get a tiny amount of water in the external chest pockets!
Pros: Great Hood. Great Pockets. Great Jacket.
Cons: Watery external pockets. As the Lhotse is so great, when I go walking with my mates we look like team ME as we all have this jacket!

General comments: I have had this jacket since its launch, and would happily continue to wear it forever - and so far it looks as if it might last that long.
The jacket is quite long - as I am 6"6' and it still covers my backside, so no wet pants! It is very waterproof, and I find the GT XCR to be quite breathable too - not much in the way of condensation.
The cuffs are velcro fastened, which makes them secure against water seepage, and the hem drawcords work well one-handed to keep out draughts etc.
The two external pockets are high on the chest, instead of low down, which allows for pocket use whilst wearing a pack with the waist belt - a good feature, but means you look strange when wearing the jacket in town, with no pack and your hands are in your pockets up around armpits!
The external pockets though, are not waterproof and do let in some water unless firmly zipped up.
The hood is the best I've known, it is easy to adjust one-handed, and once adjusted sticks to your head even in a gale. All the time though, it moves with your hood, so you don't get restricted views and you can still hear reasonably well.
All in all, this jacket is an excellent waterproof garment for even the worst Scottish weather.
Pros: Good waterproofing, length, comfortable.
Cons: External pockets get wet
