Montane are obessed with weight so it's no surprise the Montane Venture Jacket is an extrememly lightweight waterproof jacket. Despite the weight, it still manages to perform - the eVent material is strong and extrememly breathable while the wired hood is well designed. The Montane Venture Jacket will see you through the worst days on the hill.

General comments: I was lucky enough to pay only £100 for my Montane Venture Jacket, which is an absolute steal!
The Venture is a no-frills high quality three-layer waterproof which performs very well, especially bearing in mind it normally retails at the still very reasonable price of £160.
The Montane Venture in general is well cut, and for an entry level jacket the hood, fits pretty well too. My only criticism is the body length which for me is slightly short, although not enough to worry about.
Since purchasing my jacket I have used it on numerous occasions in a variety of weathers and it is yet to let me down. The Event fabric is very breathable and does a fantastic job of holding the wet stuff at bay. In the past I have fallen into the trap of choosing Goretex based jackets, but have found they are less breathable and generally overpriced compared to alternative jackets of similar specification, this jacket further enforces that belief.
The beauty of this jacket and no doubt the reason for its modest price tag is its simplicity. There are no unnecessary seams to let water in and no gimmicky features to go wrong and add unnecessary weight. I would recommend this jacket to anybody on a budget, after a well built reliable, breathable waterproof.
Pros: Very well priced for a three layer waterproof.
Decent hood for price.
Performs better than my previous jacket which cost me considerably more.
Cons: Slightly short body length.
Hood stowage a tad clumsy, but you'd have the hood up if it was raining so not that significant.

General comments: I can echo Bazza's review. This is a no nonsense jacket, minimalist compared to my Keela. It has been terrific in the recent torrential rain and high winds whilst out on the hills.I was lucky to only pay £80 for mine recently from F&T which is an absolute bargain for a full eVent jacket.
Pros: Great hood, good length with swept tail.I am 5ft 9 and eleven stone and the medium is a great fit.
Cons: none so far.
