The ladies version of the Berghaus Paclite is perfect for throwing in your rucksack when showery weather is on the cards. In terms of weather protection versus weight, Berghaus are way ahead of their competitors. For the UK, the paclite would be sufficient for hill walking during the spring, summer and autumn months. In winter, it would be also be suitable for *low* level routes with a windstopper underneath.

General comments: My partner bought this jacket a few months back now as a replacement for an ageing Karrimor one... the first thing to comment in is how light it is! The jacket weighs nothing at all really - even lighter than cheap showerproof packmacs! This jacket is however far better than these! it is goretex and very breathable, has an excellent foldaway hood that is adjustable and has a wired peak, the cuffs too are adjustable and it has a drawcord waist (hidden in the pockets) as well at a hip drawcord. There are two good mesh pockets with waterproof zips and a further arm pocket (left arm) that would be useful for a compass etc. I have read some reviews that complain about the thin material, but to me it seems quick thick and sturdy so I would not have any issue with it.
Pros: Ultralight, very small pack size, very breathable, excellent pockets and adjustments for waits, hood, cuffs etc
Cons: If you leave it in its stuff sack it looks really crumpled when you take it back out! (I don't think this has any bearing on its usefulness however!)

General comments: I bought this jacket two years ago and have been extremely pleased with it. The fact that it was so light means that I can just chuck it in my backpak and go. It comes with a stuff sack which means it packs down really small and has a;ways kept me 100% dry . I have just retreated it to enhance the performance and still the breathability has not been affected. It is a great jacket if you want to go running, cycling or climbing as it keeps you dry and warm without carrying any extra weight.
Pros: Lightweight, waterproof, colour is cool!
Cons: Could do with wire in the hood but this would affect the weight.

General comments: This is a great all round waterproof coat- I have found it to be useful for hiking, climbing and as a general all -purpose waterproof.
Because it packs into it's left hand pocket, it is light and small enough to chuck in a bag and not worry about the space it is taking up but substantial enough to provide protection when it's needed in a downpour.
The Berghaus Aquafoil system means that this coat is perfect for a summer hiking when typically British variable weather conditions require a breathable but reliable waterproof jacket. I have also used this jacket as a windproof layer in the cooler months, wearing it with a lightweight fleece underneath.
Unlike some jackets, I have found the elasticated cuffs to be a snug fit, stopping water running up your sleeves when reaching for holds whilst scrambling.
Although not a technical review point as such, it is important to note that this is as waterproofs go- is a flattering jacket and it has the added bonus that you can wear it down the pub or to the shops without looking like too much of a hiking geek!
All in all I have found this to be a well-made, hardwearing and versatile jacket, at a very reasonable price
Pros: Good value for money.
Great all-purpose jacket
Looks good
Cons: The hood is lacking a peak
Winter walkers might want something a little more substantial.

General comments: My girlfriend bought this jacket for keeping in her work bag as she was sick of getting caught in the rain and getting soaking wet.
She bought it with no intention of using it on the hills but has since changed her mind and uses it regularly.
It is light weight, packs down to nothing and is made from the legendary gore-tex paclite fabric.
My first impressions of the jacket were that it was a bit thin and would be prone to ripping or splitting, but so far I have been proven wrong as she has given it some hammer and it has withstood all that she has thrown at it.
She has used it for everything including, horse riding, work and hiking. It has proved a great addition to her collection especially in the summer when we in the north are prone to sudden down pours.
She was a little worried when she first bought it as after mucking out her horse it was damp inside, we soon concluded this was from sweat more than a problem with the jacket, this was confirmed in a day in the hills during a downpour where she stayed dry and warm.
She hasn’t stopped raving over it since she bought it and it has made me seriously consider buying one very soon.
Pros: Light, packable, well cut, heardwearing, quite good value for money
Cons: Sweaty during had exercise
