General comments: I was looking to replace my old petzl zoom that after 14 years was starting to show signs of its age. The Icon got my attention because of the 3 watt spot LED giving a light comparable to most halogen lights but with the benefit of the LED battery life. I'm overall happy with this headtorch but there are a few small places it could have been better. The output is fine but the lamp housing could do with a bit of a shield around the bottom of the reflector because you can see the light in your peripheral vision distracting you from the light hitting you objective. The straps sometimes come away from the fixings on the power pack for no real reason but htey are fairly easy to re-attach (probably why they fall off), and the stiffness of the cable pulls the powerpack or the lamp to the one side.

Pros: good light output, good battery life,

Cons: a few minor design flaws. see general points.

General comments: I bought this head torch about 4 years ago and so far, so good. I like the powerful beam and the easy to buttons.

Pros: Powerful beam and simple controls that are easy to use with gloves.

Cons: battery life when using the re-chargeable option is a bit on the shot side.
