LifeVenture DRiSTORE Bags Reviews
Reviewed by Alex (York) on 2010-03-05:
General comments: I've got half the range of these things! A 70, a 25, and a 10 litre. (well actually 2 25's...). So many people review dry bags, and say they can't stop buying them once they start and its true!
They have so many uses. If you've ever been on a wet wet hike, then you'll want one (or four) of these. They keep everything dry. fully waterproof nylon fabric, and taped seams, nothing can get through them!
I have the 70 for my 80+10, and keep everything like clothes and sleeping bag etc etc in the dry bag and things like plates etc in seperate stuff sacks (although worth buying...) Then pack valuables in the smaller bags and pack them in too!
As for day hikes, the 25 and a 10 does the job. They have a circular base, which does mean they don't fill a rucksack to maximum capacity (but to be fair, pack things that can get wet like flasks around them!!) but price comparison to liners make them more versitile and much better value.
Aside from these, I've only had an Exped one before, which did the job as well but did get a hole quite easily from either a zip or something on some clothes. These have had the same clothes in time and time again - and no hole yet! I'll keep my fingers crossed, as I dont want wet stuff!!
These become invaluable very quickly.
Even with a good rucksack and a rain cover, you still get water in your sack, so keep it out of your things!
Pros: lightweight. Good closure. Easy grip and light style clip.
Cons: No intermediate sizes (goes from 40 to 70 in one jump?) but you can make the sizes up with a combination.
