Vango Beta 350 Tent Reviews

General comments: Vango have to be one of the leaders in Low cost High performance tents.
The Vango Beta 350 is another fine example of this. It is very quick to erect with the inner and outer attached the whole lot goes up as one, if you practice you can bet the tent up with around 4 pegs (2 at each end). Great for the moist Scottish summers.
This is a 2 possible 3 season tent but for the gap at the bottom of the fly sheet allowing drafts/wind to enter causing some billowing. providing you watch how you pitch you can minimise the problem.
The inside is a bright ORANGE affair making it one of the least claustrofobic tents that I have been in. The ample poarch has a clip in ground sheet very handy when the weather turns wet. All the other bits and bobs are there, torch loops pockets etc.
This is a roomy tent. Camping with the kids there was plenty of room and with a bit of a squeeze mum could fit in as well . Although as the kids grow it would be 3 only.
About the only bug bear about the Vango Beta 350 is in drying it out, the inner and flysheet are attached and cannot be separated making airing and drying a bit of a pain.
Over all if you want a good quality cheep hardy small family 2 season tent you cannot go far wrong with the Beta 350. At a push you could go walking with it providing you can carry the bulk of it.
I am very pleased with it as it kept me and the kids dry and snug on a very wet weekend in the Cairgorms.
You will not be dissapointed with the Vango beta 350.
It does what it says on the tin
Pros: Vango build Quality.
Easy pitching.
Bad weather room. Porch size.
Cons: Quick pitch system for drying out the tent after use.
Spitting the tent up for hiking.
Fly sheet to ground gap.

Martyn P responded : Useful review, thanks. I don't like the idea of joined inner and flysheet, pity - this tent was top of my purchase list until I discovered this! (2009-04-30)
John Sut responded : I'm thinking of buying this one. According to the Vango website, the inner CAN be detached from the outer. (2009-07-22)

General comments: Bought a Beta 350 April 2009 used it May day week end,no problems.Used again in September at Fort William tent leaked badly through to inner.Centre top panels above inner very porous, also various other places on storage area.Ended up sleeping in car,and just using it for cooking.Reports on Protex2000 Polyester says extra reproofing needed to increase waterproofing, will try this for next year.Tent is good size that I need,no other faults.I have a cloth Vango 5 and a old Ultimate Pea Pod that are both perfect in all weathers.
Pros: Easy pitch,spacious.
Cons: Leaked badly.
