From TGO:
The Blast Down jacket from Berghaus is big and bulky, and feels warm and comforting. The bulk comes from the fabric around the down, which is Berghaus' own Airfoil rather than a specialist lightweight fibre from Pertex. Airfoil is soft-touch, DWR-coated microfibre polyster, with nylon inside. Fleece lines the high collar and roomy hand warmer pocket (lovely for cold hands but sticky on wet ones); there's a big mesh pocket too. The length of the jacket is good - it has an extended back to keep your bum warm. Water resistance is also good. Lofting is rapid and diamond quilting keeps the down in place at the sides. The Blast would benefit from a hood and stuff sack but these omissions are understandable at the price. Ladies Berghaus Blast also available. There are currently no prices for this product. It's possible the product has been discontinued.

Berghaus Blast Down Jacket Reviews

General comments: This is a very good jacket. The down is top quality & keeps its warmth even once the bulk of the fleece reduces with time. There are never any feather quills pointing through the material & The down remains soft. The outer shell is certainly rainproof to my experience so far. The design is a little stiff for the first few wears but soon settles, making you look less like the Michelin man. The stiching is sound & soild. There are several useful pockets which can fit a variety of smaller items. The jacket is very warm & windproof, though maybe too warm to be worn around town. I bought this jacket for the heavy snows earlier this year & was not disappointed. The jacket is very soft & gives good room for movement. At the same time it is very durable & is excellent padding for snow ball fights, tobogganing, etc. I really think the Berghaus Blast jacket is great value for money.
Pros: Overall a superb jacket & very good value for money.
Cons: A lttle too warm at times.

General comments: On the cheaper side of the down jacket market the blast jacket is good value for money.
The jacket is light and packs down well so can be carried as an emergency item, a nice feeling to have some guaranteed warm clothing for the times when thing go a bit wrong.
At the price point the jacket is fine however it is not very waterproof, doesn't have a hood, is quite short in the body, could do with a touch more filling in the arms and the lower back.
Pros: price, quality of down,
Cons: excepting that it is a budget jacket there are very few, if you want the extra features from a big brand jacket then you'll have to pay more.
