The ADC Summit is designed for mountaineers climbers skiers (yes it counts the number of ski runs as well!) and many others. Your performance data can be logged in the ADC Summit and downloaded through the ADC IR interface (optional accessory) to a PC. General comments: I've used this gizmo once, but didn't much care for it. I prefer the anemometer-only model, as I, like many of us already have a GPS that tracks altitude and barometric pressure. The infa-red com port is clever, but I'm not sure how many of us would use it. Primarily, I've used this from my deer stand in california to measure wind speed and calculate bullet drift. It does result in fewer missed shots. Which is always a plus. If you haven't got a gps that offers the pressure readings (like the garmin geko 301), consider this unit. Silva has a fantastic reputation for quality and I'm sure that this unit is no exeption.

Pros: Accurate windspeed readings, a readings-over-time function and lots of extra bells and whistles.

Cons: IT's much bulkier and heavier that the windspeed only model, which is all most of us need, I imagine.

General comments: One should perhaps not review product one doesn't own, but sometimes the differences are small, concrete and important. - I had a Silva ADC Pro, and was especially interested in it for it's measurements of relative humidity, and it's presentations of dew point and wet bulb temperature. You pay a lot for those functions. The measurement of relative humidity was a disaster. When it always was out of sync with two cheep indoor hygrometers, I brought it to a professional company that makes meteorological instruments - Aanderaa Data Instruments: The conclusion; Silva was completely off, and the cheep indoors instruments seemed right. - Then I got a new ADC Pro from Silva, with the same results. I'm not even sure it had a linear response. - BUT all the functions it shares with the Silva ADC Summit were excellent. The wind speed meter and not least the barometer with a 24 hour memory showed itself to be excellent for short term weather forecasting, not the verbal descriptions, but by reading off the hourly changes in barometric pressure yourself.

Pros: Wind speed measurements. Sensitive barometer with 24 hour history. It has everything that was reliably on the more expensive ADC Pro. Compact, smooth design, with a strap of handy length for hangig it from the backpack.

Cons: Never remembered how to reset the altitude...
