General comments: There wasn't much choice in the women's-specific mountain lightweight shell area until this year, so the introduction by Berghaus of this Paclite Trek jacket was welcome. I bought it sight-unseen simply because it had a wired hood and am impressed just how good the whole jacket is. The cut is a bit longer than it looks in the pictures, which I prefer anyway, and which reduces the likelihood of it riding up too far if your rucksack has a waistbelt. The wired hood is so much better than the usual floppy ones and obviously does a better job of protecting your face from the wind and rain. There are two large stretchy mesh pockets, which presumably reduce condensation build-up, but you wouldn't want to stuff a wet pair of gloves in them. It's made of two types of material, with what I imagine is meant to be the slightly tougher fabric at the shoulders and hem, which should help protect the wear areas. With its low weight and bulk, the Paclite Trek is ideal to have in your rucksack during the summer when you don't need a full-on winter one, and it's small and light enough to make it useful for carrying about on non-mountain holidays as well.
Pros: Wired hood, longer length.
Cons: None really.
