The latest materials and construction techniques are used in this extra light backpacking solution, so expedition load carrying will leave you feeling less like a pack horse. The top pocket converts to a lumbar pack and, for comfort, the foam harness has softer cut-outs at the neck and armpits.

General comments: This is not a woman-specific backpack, but I had no problems with it. It has some really clever design features like the stretch woven front pocket which fits my climbing helmet like a glove. I also really like the material sleeve for the hydration system which makes sure it sits in the right place with a full pack, and means you can just take the hydration pack if you’re going for a run. I would strongly recommend getting the hip-belt moulded to fit- it makes the pack so much more comfortable. I’d also recommend getting your back-size measured in person (even if you later buy it cheaper on the net!) as this bag has 3 different sizing options. The only drawback is the weight at 2.76Kg (for size M), but for the trip I was doing I’d much rather have the extra features than a lighter pack. The extra access zips, sleeping bag compartment and removable top pocket which turns into a bag were ideal for me, as most days we left the packs in our tent. I would definitely recommend this pack, and I think overall Osprey packs are some of the most thought-through on the market, but do consider weight if you’re going to be carrying this all day every day for a long time. The Osprey website gives full details of the capacity and weight of each different back-size of this bag and is worth a look.
