General comments: This is a great lightweight jacket, which I tend to use in summer months to give my old berghaus glissade a break (a much heavier jacket, but keeps me warmer in winter months). It packs down a lot smaller than my previous waterproofs, and is so light I hardly notice the extra weight in my pack when I take it off for the sun to *shine.
*please note: it's not really all that often that the sun shines on me when I'm on the hill, so it doesn't spend much time in my bag!
I find the peaked hood pulls in just right around my face to keep my glasses dry (when I can be bothered wearing them) but has enough room for a thick hat to keep my head warm. Even though it's not as breathable as goretex, I never feel damp in this jacket- the mesh lining doesn't interfere with wicking the moisture away.
I find the length is ideal for activities, as it's not long enough to reduce leg movement but not so short that I get a wet bum!
The two external pockets are very spacious, and sit just in the right place so that rucsac straps don't prevent access (the zip openings are also quite long, so any straps that do get in the way won't prevent access). I also like the fact that the pockets are zipped to the side rather than at the top, as I find my old jacket tends to collect water in two bucket-like pockets.
The double storm flap across the zip keeps rain from penetrating, but can cause problems with access to the map pocket which is situated underneath the storm flap- the velcro on the cuff attached itself to the velcro for the storm flap, and you have to peel your arm away from your chest- this can get slightly irritating.
Pros: Lightweight, breathable, packs down small, easy to clean.
Good value for money summer jacket, that I find suits winter use well when worn with windstopper fleece underneath.
Cons: Constantly getting your left arm attached to your chest by velcro isn't as fun as it sounds. I tend to use the outer pockets more to prevent this, but find I've nowhere left to keep my hands warm!
