General comments: The Buffalo Teclite Shirt is finally the piece of Buffalo clothing that you can wear on the move or when the weather is a bit warmer. It compliments the extensive range of pertex and heavy pile jackets and trousers that Buffalo already make. These heavier pile jackets, although providing extreme protection and warmth are over kill for either fast moving sports or people who are warm bodies. I fall into this category as a keen runner, climber and a person who gets hot easily. I have used the teclite shirt for a few years now and is my softshell of choice, as it is breathable, warm enough, and gives good protection with its pertex outer. I mostly wear an ice breaker top under it in winter, or a lightweight synthetic t-shirt in summer. It is claimed that they work well next to the skin, but I don’t really like this as the microfibre can wet out leaving you a bit uncomfortable. I now don’t carry a full spec gore-tex jacket much, preferring to take this top and a lightweight waterproof for real downpours. The pertex is not the lightest in the range of fabrics, but it provides good rain resistance. I would like to see buffalo make a range from pertex quantum and microfibre to really make the tops ultra-lightweight and even more breathable.
Pros: warm, good, protection, much less warm and stuffy than full weight pile
Cons: could be lighter, front pocket gets unweildy when full

General comments: Not a review of the jacket but of this product page, firstly the product displayed appears to be the active lite not the teclite which has a built in hood and is also slightly more expensive.
Perhaps most importantly (and unsurprisingly) cotswold is not the cheapest retailer of either product a quick google search shows at least three retailers selling both shirts for under £100.

This is the Teclite - the hood is folded into the collar! responded : Great "shirt" - really, just try wearing it next to your skin and go walking in some horrible, windy rain storm. It's incredible. The hood, unlike most buffalo hoods, is great. Though there's no peak to keep rain out of your eyes, it sticks to your head like glue and never obscures your vision. The performance of this jacket is amazing given how light it is.
If you walk in prolonged rain, you will need to put another breathable top on when you stop, as the shirt only wicks away the rain if you are moving and active. Stationary, you'll get cold. But that said, wearing this gossamer covering in horrible weather is liberating - it's so warm and cosy, and you stay comfortable even if a bit wet. Top piece of kit! (2008-08-14)
