General comments: A very well made multi-tool with a good range of tools, the main blade is excellent and very sharp (I have cuts to prove it!). The tool comes in a nice solid leather case that can be clipped onto your belt etc. The other tools are all very useful for general camping etc, althought the sissors are very very small! This is probably more a tool to be kept in the car etc

Pros: Very well made, a decent range of tools, I like the way the tools 'lock' into place.

Cons: very very heavy to carry in your pack for what it is! No corkscrew!

General comments: As with all Leatherman products, the Blast, is a very well designed and produced piece of kit. Leatherman are one of the leading manufacturers of multi purpose tools and as such have years of experience, and it shows with those nice little touchs, such as very sharp blades and locking tools. (You need to open the other blades to unlock the tool that you were just using!) The Blast is supplied with a leather belt case. There was a time, that nearly every member of my regiment had a Leatherman of some description, so they must be up to the job!

Pros: Really well designed and produced. A great range of tools and blades.

Cons: Reasonably heavy. For this price i would like to see a corkscrew included.

General comments: I managed to pick one of these up from ebay for £30 delivered, and its much better than any swiss army knife that I have ever owned. It has tools which are actually useable for a change, not nail files and tweasers, as lets face it who in the swiss army ever used any of those items. The leatherman is much more practical assembly with pliers and wire cutters and a surprisingly sharp knife blade as I found out. The scissors are the usual swiss army equivalent and are best avoided and the screwdrivers would do in a bind. The best feature, is the folding mechanism and the regular pliers, you don’t realise how versatile these can be. I take this item every where, it permanently lives in my rucksack and I might even convince mother to buy me a better model for Christmas. Aesthetically it looks good, but you also have to consider that it is a good bit larger than a swiss army knife if space is your mail concern. Seems substantial in your hand, not lightweight and flimsy. The bottle opener might come in handy too for those long drunken nights by the campfire.

Pros: rugged heavy dependable, pliers are excellent

Cons: scissors, whats the point apart from fishing

General comments: The leatherman blast is one of the cheapest leathermans you can buy. New you can get one for just over £40. Don’t be put of buy the price, it is still a very worthwhile investment. You can do just about everything with it, apart from open a bottle of wine! Every part is made from stainless steel, and the ends of the screwdrivers are toughened with tungsten. The screws bend before you damage the leatherman. The locking system is good, and to be honest they are the best multitools you can buy. I have had people say to me that they are heavy. This one ways just over 200g, but it is not really an issue. Try carrying all the tools that one contains. That’s heavy! I would like to add that you will never wear one out. The saw blade of mine has been used a lot, and although it took along time, I have cut through logs over 3 inch thick (Don’t ask why, but I was freeing up a trapped sheep on the hills!) Also the blade stays sharp, which is more than I can say for the Swiss penknife. Once you have had one of these you will not look back. Shop around though, as there are some deals out there on them.

Pros: Everything. I havent listed all the tools available, go on the leatherman website. Really a excellent piece of kit

Cons: None as yet. More money, but you get what you pay for!
