The RAB Alpine series of down sleeping bags are ideal for lightweight mountaineering. This bag uses technology to create a specialist sleeping bag by minimising weight, maximising comfort and not sacrificing durability. The Rab Alpine 600 sleeping bag uses Pertex Quantum fabric which is very lightweight, stong and durable. It is used with the Rab sleeping bags as it is downproof, as soft as silk, and reduces the packing size by upto 50%. As Pertex Quantum is so light it enables the down in your sleeping bag to loft more easily which means you get warmer faster. The Alpine series sleeping bags also use Primaloft One. PrimaLoft insulates your body to keep it comfortable and conserve energy even in extreme cold. It does this by combining ultra-fine and multi-diameter fibers. The specially treated ultra-fine fibers help to form a water resistant insulating structure, while the multi-diameter fibers help to build down loft.An angled foot box in the Alpine 600 allows for extra foot space so not restricting movement and enabling you to keep your toes warm through movement in cold conditions.A combination of the finest down and incredible technologies come together to create a sleeping bag which is second to none for warmth, comfort, and functionality.

General comments: Having spent the first night away with this bag I can tell you it is toasty, also bulky in its large stuff sack, but thatís OK in the car. My girlfriend has a Summit 900, so I had gear envy and need something light, warm (after too many nights cold in two sleeping bags and silk liner) and packable for Scottish winters, a trip Shetland this year and Iceland next. Went carefully through the reviews of other bags and the Quantum 600 seemed the business (I had seen a 400 in the shop and was hooked). Anyway this is a new and RAB suggest updated version of Quantum, so plummeted for this. Canít fault it at all, and I sure it is the best bag I have ever slept in. The review above seems not to match the information on the RAB website: The outer and hood fabric is Pertex Endurance (which is water proof), only the inner is Pertex Quantum, perhaps this refers to the Neutrino range, secondly only the 200 version has Primaloft material as far as I can see.
Pros: Warm, light, packs down OK into excellent waterproof stuff sac. Probably about the best warmth to weight to pack ratio amongst sleeping bags of this specification.
Cons: Expensive, but you get what you pay for. Perhaps bulky for some, certainly I have to try and find somewhere to store it in my small flat.
