General comments: As I work in an outdoor persuits centre, good kit is important to me. And as I call my husband a north face junky I opted for a mountain equipment tent just to hack him off. This is the tent that I personally use when we get a chance to get away. Its light enough to be carried as it weighs in around about 3.6kgs. And its easy to repack. As the desciption says it comes with four poles, but it also comes with two support type poles. I tend to find that the three is adequate unless it is really windy. The tent is a good rain saving tent and the angles of the pitch ensures your are kept dry. It has wind vents in the surface of the fly sheet, although you can here these rippling, its makes the tent more stable. Make sure that your replace the tent pegs as the ones that we got with ours looked mismatched to the tent, they were really flimsy. Good porch area, and boy is there loads of storage room. Mine has lots of pockets and the mesh windows to the front let in a decent amount of early morning light. A safe bet of a tent, would be happy using this all year round with a good mummy bag.
Pros: Light at 3.6kg, easy to pitch even in the wind. Extra poles
Cons: Its not made by the north face hahahahha

General comments: The Torres 2XT is a generously sized 2-person tent, with a large porch area. It's difficult to find a small tent with adequate porch space for the amount of people the tent is designed for- I've spent many years carrying a 3 person tent for 2 people, simply so that some kit can fit in the inner for there to be enough room for everything!
Admittedly, most of the use I've had of my Torres has been just myself and a huge pile of kit, but I've finally made my other half have time to join me on the hill. Even with him deciding to carry a month's worth of kit, we found we had ample room in the porch for all our kit, and the door being at the side meant we could reach the cooker in the doorway while keeping our feet warm in our sleeping bags!
I also think this tent is ideal for going cycling- again, because of the porch space- there's not many 2 person tents that you can fit bicycles in the porch.
It's possible to pitch outer first then clip the inner in, or leave the inner attached to pitch all-in-one; however, pitching all in one is much easier as the inner brings the sides in maintaining the height, whereas if you pitch it outer first it looks really low & flat & you have to wrestle to get the inner attached (as I realised Sunday night, on a cold dark mountain..)!
All in all, it's a great tent, mine has stood firm through storms and gales, regular frosty coatings, and even kept me cool in the summer, providing a great place to retreat to when I need an escape from the Duke of Edinburgh groups I supervise at the end of a long day!
Pros: Particularly like the tapered shape- plenty of head room (height and width) at the entrance of the inner for sitting up, storing kit in easy to reach places and rolling about in the night!
Love all the storage pouches- side pockets for stuff sacks, mars bars, hat & gloves, with overhead storage for torch, phone, compass and anything else you want to stash away (just remember to take everything out before you put the tent away!)
Reflective strips along zip edge so you can find the door in the dark, and glow in the dark zippers (for the same reason I guess!)
Reasonable weight for size & sturdiness of tent, packs away tidily.
Cons: Unexplainable crease always seems to appear across inner at widest part, no matter how much tension you put in between the pegs (all this changes is appearance when you're showing it off, and means that annoying 5p that rattles round the tent is impossible to find when you're about to pack up!)
It's a great tent, I don't really have anything to complain about!
