General comments: I have an mountain equipment Nanga Parbat for winter use but for the rest of the year i have the Trinity. like most mountain equipment jackets the fit is superb, this is something other manufacturers should take note on. The womens fit ensures that the jacket doesnt flap about with all the excess fabric non-womens versions have (i used to rely on men's jackets in small!!).
The jacket is very light (about 420g for my size 12) and compresses great for sitting the bottom of my rucsac. The Gore-tex paclite fabric is featherweight and does make you wonder if such a light fabrics can work...itsdoes, the breathability is superb and it seems to be holding out in the longevity stakes also. What is spot on about this jacket is the inclusions of Gore-tex XCR panel in the areas of potential abrasion..the shoulders. this stops you worrying that wearing a rucksac will wear through the fabric.
There are lots of well placed pockets with 3 on the front (chest area) that are roomy enough to take maps. all of these are above the waist belt line so a rucksac doesnt interfear with usage. As with most Mountain Equipment jackets the hoods deserves special mention...when this is done up correctly, you can walk head on into a storm without the fear of any leakage or loss of sight. All jacket hoods should be made like this. The hood has a wired peak and not a silly laminate one (mountain Hardwear), which enables a custom fit.
I always carry this jacket due to its ligtweight and packability, I wouldnt feel that the jacket would offer the same confidence in a winter storm but hey, I've got my Nanga Parbat for that..
Pros: Hood, Hood, Hood, fit and material
Cons: none
