General comments: First chance I had to wear it was going round Alton Towers in the pouring rain. The water rides certainly tested the jacket. It kept me warm and dry with a middle layer also. It's my first berghaus and I love it. Proper country test in September on the Dales and in mid Wales!!

General comments: I recently "tested" my new 'Cornice II I.A.' and I am happy to say after a rained drenched wind swept hill walk in the Wicklow Mountains my jacket stood up to the Berghaus claim and was indeed 100% waterproof. Well worth the extra money.
Pros: Extremely waterproof. Good value for money.

General comments: Lightweight and comfortable. The fabric works well as claimed (so far). Seems like a lot of money for a no frills jacket but the design is simple and efficient and the hood design is superb considering that this is not a technical climbing jacket. Understated look fits in anywhere.

General comments: I'm quite satisfied with the Cornice, it's comfortable and light and it's interactivity with fleece/gilet is great.
Cons: I do have one quibble, however, and that is with the rather flimsy stud fasteners and the fact that you can't get replacements from stockists. I asked two stockists for help and was told by both to "try a tailor" which I did to no avail. I also contacted the Irish agent and emailed Berghaus and got no reply from either !! What use is a Gore-Tex jacket if you can't fasten it properly ? I've worn "Aigle" jackets for years and not once did I a stud-fastener fail - but then they are metal and top quality. A product is only as strong as it's weakest link - wouldn't you agree ?

General comments: Kept me exceptionally dry and comfortable when walking in the Cotswolds recently. This garment combines exceptional performance with striking good looks. Gunmetal was not my first choice of colour (Green was out of stock), but I now prefer Gunmetal

General comments: Over The years the Cornice has become one of 'the' classic walking jackets. In combining both fashion and functionality Berghaus have created a jacket that is all things to all people. The truth is, the toughest action most Cornices will see will be on a wet Saturday afternoon or on the sides lines of a muddy football pitch. Smart enough to wear to work, but if you fancy a trip out to the hills you're fully covered too.
Pros: Reasonable price, understated looks bely it's performance.
Cons: Not for the hip and trendy, face fabrics not as robust as higher spec xcr jackets
