This Thermarest repair kit will work on any Thermarest inflatable mattress so there's no excuse for not getting one. My Thermarest Prolite 3 once got a puncture when I was bivvying at the top of Ben Alder - as a result I a) had the worst "sleep" of my life and b) promised myself I would get one of these. | Shop | Price | Postage | Total |

Therm-a-Rest Universal Repair kit Reviews

General comments: This piece off kit is essential for all Thermarest owners, well now you know it exists! When you need this out in the wilds you'll curse yourself for not buying it.
A punctured mat is as comfy as laying in the dirt!
Thermarests for me are the greatest thing to sleep on but they do have an aversion to sharp objects like crampons, pocket knives and your girlfriend's leg razor. Like all skills and procedures this should be practiced in a relaxed situation to and not in the dark behind Stac Pollaidh being attacked by every midge on the west coast. The pack comes with several round patches which match each colour of thermarest available, two big square patches for underneath, the glue, an applicator and instructions. It works is a similar way to bicycle punchure repairs in that you have to: - Locate the puncture, clean and dry
- Rough up the surrounding surface. Some sand paper would be useful but I used a rock grrrrrrrrr.
- Apply glue to the patch and leave for 5 minutes
- Place over the hole. This is where the procedure changes as heat must now be applied to the patch. I used a camping pot full of hot water as recommended. This must be left in place for 30 mins.
I tried this in the field but I made a pretty poor job of it and had to re-do it at home. However, the mat seems as good as new now.
It might seem a pain having to include this in a pack you want as light as possible but if you want to guarantee a good night sleep every time you need it!
Pros: Essential kit
Cons: Needs heat to work. Only one patch for your colour of mat.
