That means that you have a vice for work and damage other areas of your life.
I tell you something: you should not sacrifice your life to be more productive at work. That is especially true for those who have digital businesses.

But let me tell you something: When you have a lot of chores, you are not being productive, you are just busy.
Living busy can even mean that you are not knowing how to organize your time in the most efficient way.
Chances are, you’re not going to do anything right. My advice is: don’t try to cover the world.
3 – Do not live based on emergencies
Yes, sometimes unexpected things happen.
The email signals an urgent demand, or the phone rings to attend to a situation that cannot wait.
But if your day is based on meeting demands that arise at the last minute, what you had already programmed will be put aside.
Putting out fires cannot be on your list of daily activities, that is, you have your powers and your daily agenda.
If not, on the weekend you will verify what you did in the week and you will see that you did not produce anything, you only dedicated yourself to solving setbacks.
4 – Taking breaks is essential
I never read The Shining by Stephen King, but I saw the movie based on the other and directed by Stanley Kubrick (movie, inclusive).
One of the strongest phrases in the film is “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. ”

You have not presented yourself properly and you are going straight to the point.
This is true for many things in life: if you do everything running, sooner or later things will not turn out well.

That being the case, wake up earlier and don’t rush to work.
If you start the day at a hectic pace, your brain can’t figure out what’s going on.
Get up in time to have a good breakfast, watch a YouTube video or an episode of your favorite series, or even do nothing for a few minutes.

I’m going to explain two great techniques to make better use of every second.
The first one is the Commodore Technique, which basically consists of dividing your demand into cycles and staying focused on one of them.
You end a cycle when you focus on it for 25 minutes straight and pause for 5 to 10 minutes.
After four cycles, you can increase the pause time to 15 or 30 minutes.
And the second strategy is to work 90 minutes straight.
A study developed by the University of Florida observed two elite professionals, such as athletes and actors, and found that they perform three 90-minute cycles a day and therefore have a high performance.
In other words, they rarely work more than 4 and a half hours a day.
The truth is that during the day, we go from an alert state to fatigue, every 90 minutes, which is why this technique is so effective. Make the most of your spikes.
It is not how much time you spend working, but the quality of that time.
For both the Commodore Technique and the 90 minutes, you can use the Tomato-Timer.

10 – Focus on the solution and not the problem
The scenario is as follows: it is 10 o’clock on a Sunday night. You are driving on a slow road. Your car’s tire is flat.
Capturing the signal for the cell phone will not be easy. Changing tires is not exactly one of the skills you have.
You have a problem. It already happened. The problem is there.
Thinking about him is not going to get you out of the same place. Focusing on the problem can block you and prevent you from seeing solutions.
The way you face a situation (whether through the problem or the solution) is related to the growth mindset.
Mindset is a person’s way of thinking, how they see and react to things in life. Your mindset.
According to Carol Deck, author of Mindset – The New Psychology of Success, there are two basic types of mindset – fixed and growth.
The fixed is based on the belief that intelligence is static and limited to the talents that are had from the cradle, that is, the ability that people have to perform a certain activity originates from their birth.

Our brain needs 30 days of activity in a row to build a habit. So, take it one step at a time and find out which habit works best for you.
14 – Organize your day
You can have an incredible memory, remember the color and model of the shirt that you wore on the first day of your first job.
But relying solely on your memory to remember all the demands of the day is running the risk of being wrong.
To help you organize your day, you can use:
- Physical diaries or post-its (self-adhesive paper of various colors, sizes and shapes)
Write in your own handwriting the activities that you have to accomplish, activates the brain and helps you memorize them.
- Online agendas, such as Google Agenda
The good thing is that you have it in the palm of your hand and it gives you the notifications of each of your daily, weekly, monthly commitments. .
For example, my Klickpages (KP) team has a weekly activity log. So everyone finds out about the tasks that each one is doing.
- Apps and tools
Like Google Drive, Trellis, Ever note, slack.
My advice is: organize your week on Friday, before the end of the day, or early Monday.
If you don’t want to get to work every morning without knowing what to do, (as this is a waste of time), keep your schedule organized
That helps your brain prepare for what is coming.
Another way is to organize all the information in one place: for example, if you choose Slack as your company’s internal communication tool, don’t send information by email.
If you use a lot of tools, your files, documents and conversations are going to be disorganized.
You are going to waste time searching and therefore your productivity decreases.
15 – Avoid distractions to the maximum
Even if you live isolated from the world, without internet access, without people around you, distractions always find a way to appear.
It is practically impossible to get rid of them, but you can avoid them:
Keep your cell phone in airplane mode or offline and check notifications when you take a break, never during productive hours.
Preferably, put your device with the screen facing down and resist the temptation to “check the time” every 10 minutes.
- Social media
Facebook and (personal) Instagram are not good allies for productivity.

If you are used to spending 2 or 3 hours in a meeting, reduce the time little by little until you reach an hour or less.
Invite only who should be there. Don’t waste someone else’s time unnecessarily.
Bonus: Hold standing meetings. Thus, everyone tends to be more objective and say what is relevant.
17 – Most important tasks first
Between updating spreadsheets full of numbers and formulas and answering an email, what seems to be more interesting?
I would say email, because it is easier.
If you tend to do easier and less important tasks first, you are not alone. But you are making a mistake.

In the early hours of the day, prioritize the most complicated and important tasks, as this is when you have the most energy.

What is your goal? Why do you get up every day to work? What is your fuel that allows you to continue?
Finding out what motivates you, where you want to go and if you are on the right track, are important points to maintain your productivity in the heights.

So being multitasks is an illusion. It is nothing more than constantly interrupting one task to do another.

20 – Reach the flow state
Everything I have told you so far is very useful for those who want to increase their productivity.
But perhaps the most effective thing is the state of flow.
That is a concept created by the psychologist Mohali Csikszentmihalyi and it means being completely immersed in an activity.
And when it seems that nothing else exists outside of that precise moment, you can forget to eat and sleep, so focused you are.
Maybe you’ve already been through that: you were so focused on something that you freaked out when someone approached you.
Reaching the state of flow is not so easy, but with all the advice I gave you, you will achieve it
21 – Do not get lost with the excess of information.
Believe it or not, we have never read as much as we do today.
The cell phone rings at every moment, the news is published in real time.
If you stop producing every time something appears on the internet, you are really not going to do anything.
Maybe you’ve already done some research on what marketing is and ended up on a YouTube channel that talks about tourism.
It is very easy to get lost in a world of endless information. So focus on what you are looking for.
22 – The Procrastination Monster
Go back to school times for a minute.
Did you study every day after class, or did you let the subjects accumulate until one day before the test?
If you were like practically everyone I know (including myself), choose the second option.
